PROJECT PURPOSE

The LIFE23-CET-Re-Energize project aims to revitalize the heat pump sector across Europe to support the transition towards more efficient and sustainable energy solutions. It focuses on developing a Capacity Building Framework for professional training in heat pump technologies, specifically for heating and cooling of buildings.

Despite significant progress in legislative and policy areas, Europe continues to face major environmental and climate challenges. Transitioning to energy-efficient solutions is essential to meet climate goals, yet the shortage of skilled professionals and existing market barriers remain significant obstacles. The project will address these challenges by improving professional skills and fostering collaboration across sectors to drive widespread adoption of heat pumps.

Objectives

The primary objectives of the LIFE23-CET-Re-Energize project are:

  • Enhancing workforce capacity by providing in-depth assessment and strategic action planning in the heat pump sector.

  • Developing comprehensive Capacity Building Frameworks to increase professional training and skills in heat pump technology, a key renewable heating and cooling solution.

  • Promoting the adoption of energy-efficient solutions by both professionals and consumers through an integrated digital tool.

  • Training at least 385 building sector professionals and 115 trainers, encouraging the uptake of green technologies, with a focus on heat pump installations.

  • Raising public awareness of sustainable energy transitions and overcoming existing market barriers by ensuring long-term impact through stakeholder collaboration.

  • Disseminating and replicating results across Europe, making the project’s resources openly accessible for ongoing education and capacity building in the sector.

By the end of the project, the skills gap in the application of heat pumps as a sustainable heating and cooling technology will be significantly reduced, improving the employability of professionals across Europe. Public awareness of sustainable energy will be boosted, helping to accelerate the shift to energy-efficient solutions. Collaborations between public, private, and international entities will be strengthened, ensuring policy consistency and long-term impact.

EXPECTED IMPACT AND LONG-TERM OUTCOMES

By the end of the project, the LIFE23-CET-Re-Energize initiative will have made a significant impact on the heat pump sector by:

  • Reducing the skills gap in applying heat pump technologies.

  • Increasing the number of professionals trained in energy-efficient solutions.

  • Encouraging the widespread adoption of sustainable heating and cooling technologies across Europe.

  • Strengthening collaborations among stakeholders, ensuring policy alignment, and securing the long-term sustainability of the project outcomes.
